After all the hard work, the “Mamma Mia!” production made its debut on Jan 31, Feb 1 and Feb 2 allowing many people to see the show numerous times and to see what the students have been rehearsing for months. The cast was able to perform an amazing show, especially with all the hard work and dedication they had placed in it.
“The experience has been great, the students have been really creative,” said the director, Tom Carroll. “They work well together. Very energetic, a very professional group.”
The cast and crew shared their experience being a part of the show. Senior Lissandra Ferrante, the stage manager, said “It’s really a learning experience… I think it’s amazing to see everyone perform, they’re all so talented.”
Faith Lange, who has been involved in past musical productions, played the role of Tanya and believes the best part of being in shows is that it gives the cast “experiences and opportunities that they will be able to cherish forever.”
But putting together a show is not easy and takes a lot of hard work and dedication and is a big time commitment, with many long rehearsals.
“The worst thing about the musical is having to commit to all these days of rehearsal,” said freshman Mia Mero. “Every single day until like six o’clock.”
That leaves the cast and crew little time to do other things.
“I think the worst part is trying to manage your time, social life, time to study, school and activities you do out of school,” said sophomore Mia Montesdeoca, an ensemble member.
Band member Nicole Eli Seniar agreed that time management was hard and practice was “stressful because there’s lots of music to learn.” But despite the time and stress, Eli Seniar still found it to be “a fun experience.”
The cast and crews effort paid off, as the show was an immense success.
“I can’t pick one favorite part because I love the whole thing and this is now my second and a half time [seeing it],” said Principal Meredith Inbal. “I think it came out more amazing then I could even imagine.”
“The best thing is probably the experience, feeling like you’re a part of something great, a part of something that people will love,” said Lange.
